Rob’s Art
Life isn’t all work around DevUp – sometimes there’s a little bit of play, once all the work is done, of course. In Rob’s downtime, he enjoys putting his creativity to new uses… stained glass, glass mosaic and oil painting, to name a few mediums. Here are a few of the projects that he’s done over the past few years – you can click on the photos for larger versions. If you’re interested in how the pieces came together, click on the More link below each of the pieces for more information.
Oil Paintings
My first oil painting in 30 years.
An oil painting I did for Nick as a gift.
Glass Mosaic
I couldn’t do any of my work in glass without the guidance and encouragement of Akram and Fadia Gabra of Gabra Studios, located in Etobicoke in the west end of Toronto. They offer classes in creating your own beautiful artwork – I highly recommend trying it. You may think you don’t have it in you to do something nice – you do. I promise.
The Welsh Dragon is an important symbol to Welsh people – so important that it’s on the flag.

Inspired by a photo of West Point Lighthouse in PEI, this mosaic took almost a year to finish (though, I did take breaks to work on other projects as well).

Stained Glass
This hummingbird was the first real piece I made, in 2007.
This lighthouse is my pièce de resistance… A gift for Nick, I’m told that he doesn’t hate it yet.
